Pellinore also fought a battle with King Arthur, and in the battle the Sword in the Stone was broken. (Arthur later receives Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake as a replacement sword. The two swords are often incorrectly assumed to be the same sword.)
In Arthurian tales he was a king of Listenoise, also known as the Maimed King.- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellinore (in English)
- http://www.celtic-twilight.com/camelot/bruce_dictionary/index_p.htm (in English; "A king of Listenois, Wales, or “the Isles” first mentioned in the Vulgate Merlin and the Livre d’Artus as the Maimed King, who was wounded by a holy lance after he doubted the wonders of the Grail, and who would only be healed at the conclusion of the Grail Quest. He was the son of Pellehan and the brother of Pelles (the Fisher King), although all three kings were probably originally the same character. R. S. Loomis thought that the origin of his name was “Beli Mawr” (Beli the Great), a character in Welsh mythology.")

When he doubted the Grail quest, he received a wound, which could only be cured by the completion of the quest. His name is probably a corruption of Beli Mawr (see Belenus). His father is Pellehan (Beli Hen - i.e. "Beli the Old"), and his brother is Pelles - the Fisher King. Var: Pellinore."(Information from name #119280 originally submitted by user Antique_Cherub)
