There was Roger Keith Barrett, formed lead singer and guitarist for the band Pink Floyd. He is better known, however, under the pseudonym of Syd Barrett, which he took upon joining the band. They kicked him out of the band after recording just two albums with him, because he took drugs that made him go mad. He died July 7, 2008. Mostly I remember him as the genius who threw it away.
