Variant of Sherah which appears briefly in some versions of the Old Testament (1 Chronicles 7:24) belonging to a descendant of Ephraim who founded three towns. It means "blood relative" from Hebrew sheer "flesh, meat", also "near kindred" (apparently from the Indo-European root *sker "to cut, to scrape, to hack").
