Varlam is also quite commonly used in the country of Georgia. It was introduced to the country during Russian rule, and the Georgians subsequently adopted it. This was at the expense of the traditional Georgian form of Barlaam, which is ვარლაამ (Varlaam): it has since become very rare. [noted -ed]
