In 2018, 3 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Xavier who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 544th most common male first name for living U.S. citizens.
Xavier is my last name. Wish it weren't used so much for a first name.
We called our son Xavier Oscar. Everyone loves the name Xavier. We pronounce it zay-vee-er. For short we call him Xav (pronounced zay-v).He's only 4 but occasionally he'll pronounce it za-VYAY (French). We don't mind...We love this name and it's very different.
Francis Xavier is sometimes used as a double first name, or first and middle name, by Catholics in honour of the saint. Francisco Javier (the Spanish form of the name) is quite a frequent combination in Spain. It's also used in other languages: Francesco Saverio (Italian), François-Xavier (French), Francesc Xavier (Catalan) and others.
This name is not all that uncommon. I know of 5 Xaviers. All kids under 3 except for one who is 8. It has become very common in the last couple of years.
