This is surprisingly very cool name for a boy or a girl. For a boy, it gives off that young, bouncy, jolly country-esque vibe that I REALLY love for a dude—and can also be spelled 'Yancey'.
For a girl, this name can be a very sweet, fragile and soft rhyming variant of Nancy. It can also be a tribute to the American actress Yancy Butler.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yancy_ButlerReally good unisex name, that also rhymes with Nancy. Imagine twins named Yancy and Nancy.
This is a very uncommon name. I like that it has a quirky charm to it, and I think it can be a name that someone makes their own. Since it's a boy's name, one drawback is that it does rhyme with Nancy. But despite that I think it has a nice, cheerful feel to it, and can work at least as a middle name, if not a first name. This is Doug Funnie's middle name from the Doug cartoon, although he spells it "Yancey".
This is the name of my boyfriend. It's a unique name and I so love it. Can't help writing it over and over.
Great masculine name. Love it!
It's an interesting name. One of the thousand cognates derived from the evergreen name John.
Sounds dated and feminine. Yancy= Nancy. Enough said.
I personally find this name horrible sounding and sort of ugly.
Actually, I've changed my mind about the name Yancy. You never expect names that you originally dislike to grow on you! I don't think it sounds horrible or ugly. This is a lovely, unique, cool, cute name. It's an interesting name, with it starting with the letter 'y'. I don't have a problem with this name. Xo :)
A real all-American name in a nation where all of our names come from other places. Our first adopted child and third total was given this name. We felt as if he needed an extra dosage of Americanism, but we gave him a beautiful Russian middle name.
