Yoshi

I never knew Yoshi was Japanese till I went looking for cat names, so I named my kitten Yoshi and I think it fits her well. It's also a very cute name and I love the Nintendo character!

While Yoshi is a classic Japanese name, I'd avoid using it, since it's known to kids around the world as a Nintendo video-game character.

Unless you're Japanese, it's best that you avoid this name. Everyone will think of the Mario character.

I always think about the cute little reptile. I'm a big fan of Nintendo, but I think I would name either my dog, fish, or any type animal, not human.

This is a good name, but I won't use it on a child. I'm afraid they might tease him/her like, "Oh! It's the green Yoshi! Where's Mario and Luigi?" It's good, but I'd rather name a pet this than a kid.
