I love this name it's unique and I think it's the best name for your child or a preferred name or even if you're planning on legally changing your name it's a great choice of name in my opinion!

I actually searched this name up because of ddlc and was very surprised about the fact it means lily. Very nice, though not so happy about it being slang.

Hai! My name is Yuri, and I think it's cool.

It does have an interesting sound to it, but in the Western world, it means a lesbian relationship between two fictional characters. So that's why I think it's best left used as the name in Japan. And in Japan only.

Ah, Yuri. Many different ways this name could be used. Either as a lesbian relationship, or Lily in Japanese.

I really like this name. The R/L/D sound on the "-ri" part sounds cool.
It's a little funny how this name seems to be almost as popular as "Lily".
It does sort of make me think of a scenario where a Lily goes to Japan and is called Yuri, but that doesn't make much sense, huh...

I think it's pretty, but for hopefully obvious reasons, I wouldn't recommend it outside of Japan.

I don't like this as a name because of it being a Japanese jargon term to refer to lesbian relationship pairings. I'd be embarassed if this was my name.

Oh my god, man I feel your pain Yuri, my name is also Yuri and I despise it when people try to say such ignorant things about the name like "urine". I mean really how does the name remotely relate to that? And also "Uranus" now truly I don't understand that one. But personally I love my name and if I could pick my name before I've been born I'd keep it Yuri. But personally I like this name because it's just weird and I like weird.

Well, MY name is Yuri, and when I read the first comment I was really embarrassed because I never heard that before. I have no Japanese accent, but I still love my name for its uniqueness and sound. Many people comment on my name, however, a few ignorant individuals like to intentionally relate it to "urine".

I have loved this name ever since I heard it. When I first heard it it was being used for a Japanese baby girl I fell in love with it and went online straight away and looked up the meaning which is Lily which has a very personal meaning to me.

Yuri (2) is such a beautiful name, I plan on naming a daughter this, her father being Japanese or not.

This name, Yuri, is Japanese slang for girl on girl action, so I wouldn't name my child that.

In response to the other user's comment concerning the lesbian connections to the name:
Yuri is actually a fairly common girl's name in Japan, as are most flower names. Not only that, but Yuri, along with Yaoi, are terms used more often in America than in Japan -- it is the wont of people there to use "Shonen-ai" and "Shoujo-ai" instead.

I would like to add that, although girl on girl action may also be called "shoujo-ai," shoujo-ai is differnet from Yuri in that shoujo-ai now refers more to fluff.
