A Slovenian named Zala - This name originally means either beautiful, or evil (may stem from the Slavic word 'zla', meaning evil). When Christianity was imposed on the Slavs, many names were 'Christianized'. For example, Christians said that the Slavic name "Mojca" was short for "Maria". Similarly, they said "Zala" was short for "Rosalia", but this is not true.
This description of 'Zala' is wrong, 'Zala' means 'shiny' and has a Pushto background.
It's a short form of Rozalija, but it means beautiful too.
