The modern variation of the name is Tsippora. A previous poster claims the name comes from tsaphar, but it most likely is from the Tiberian word Ṣippôrā which means "bird."
The root of this word/name |tsaphar| means "to skip about." The native ear would have heard this name as Skipper, their word for bird.
