Meaning & History

One of the Heliades, seven daughters of HELIOS the sun god. When their brother PHAETHON was struck from the chariot of the sun by ZEUS, they gathered in their grief and were transformed into poplar-trees and their tears were transformed into golden amber. Helie's name comes from that of her father, HELIOS and ultimately means "Of the sun".
