Meaning & History

Means "(one who) leads back the distant one".

In Egyptian mythology, he was a god of war, 'Slayer of Enemies', worshiped mainly in the area of Abydos, particularly in Thinis. He was the husband of MENHIT, his female counterpart. He was typically depicted as a bearded man wearing a robe or kilt and a headdress with four feathers, while holding a spear or lance, and occasionally with a lion's head, like his wife.
