The first element of this name is probably derived from Greek τέλος (telos), which can mean "purpose, goal, aim" as well as "fulfillment, completion". However, it is also possible that it is derived from Greek τῆλε (tele) "far, from afar, far off". The second element is derived from Greek ανδρος (andros) meaning "of a man".
