Meaning & History

Derived from Greek ἐνάρετος (enaretos) meaning "virtuous, productive", literally "in virtue" from the preposition ἐν (en) "in" and‎ ἀρετή (arete) "virtue". In Greek mythology Enarete (or Aenarete) was a daughter of Deimachus who became the wife of Aeolus and ancestress of the Aeolians.
