Meaning & History

Means "syrup man" or "man sweet like syrup", likely deriving from the Sumerian elements 𒇽 ("grown man"), and làl ("honey, date syrup"). In Sumerian mythology, Lulal, inscribed dlú.làl in cuneiform, is the younger son of Inanna. He was the patron deity of Bad-tibira while his older brother, Shara was located at neighboring Umma.
