Meaning & History

Karapet is a pre-Christian Armenian mythological character usually represented as a glittering long-haired thunder-god with a purple crown and a cross.

Since Early Christianity he has been identified with JOHN the Baptist and Karapet is often called 'Holy Herald' and 'The Forerunner'.
