Means "lyre" in Ancient Greek from the word kinýra. It may be linked to the name of a minor Ugaritic deity Kinaru(m), the god of the lyre. The name is also similar to kinnor (כִּנּוֹר), itself a kind of lyre. It is possible that all these variant names have a common heritage.
