Meaning & History

Derived from Greek εὔιππος (euippos) meaning "delighting in horses" and "well-horsed", derived from the Greek elements εὖ (eu) "good" and ἵππος (hippos) "horse". This was the name of multiple characters in Greek mythology, including a son of King Thestius who, together with his brothers, was killed by Meleager; it also occurs in Homer's Iliad belonging to a Lycian who was slain by Patroclus in the Trojan War.
