Kahlan Amnell is one of the main protagonists and the love interest of Richard Cypher/Rahl, the main protagonist. Kahlan is a 'Confessor', which is someone who can see and find the truth in anyone. In the television adaptation of the books, Disney-ABC's 'Legend of the Seeker', Kahlan was portrayed by American actress Bridget Regan.

Kahlan was likely created as a variant of KAYLYN, given the pronunciation. Whether usage of the name is due to the character, or whether the variation is just another in the progression of spelling variants naturally created by parents from the popular Kaylyn, is unknown.
