My name is Albina. I’m from Ghana. The name Albina means “a girl who brings happiness”. I’ve never met anyone with my name. It is often pronounced wrongly as Al-bye-na and yes most people say Albino or Albyena. For short people call me Alby.
Albina is goddess of the dawn and protector of ill-fated lovers in Etruscan mythology with Turan, goddess of love and vitality.
This is close to the Romanian word "albină", which means "bee", and is pronounced with just a slight difference (the "ă" doesn't sound exactly like an "a"). Just a fun fact, I know that this word is not the name's origin.
My mother is Albina and I love her so much. The name means 'white light' and that's what my mother is.
Also Lithuanian. [noted -ed]
My name is Albina and I'm Ukrainian. I know of 3 other people who share my name, met one in real life. The other girls tend to shorten their names to Alya, but I never had it shortened.I've had to deal with a lot of mispronunciation, so it's pretty much a habit to spell it out right away. The worst example of mispronunciation was a teacher that called me Albania all year long. I've been called Albino, Alvina, Albeeno, pronounced as Al-Bye-na, Albinutsa (little bee in Romanian, I think?)
From Wikipedia:Albina (ahl-BEE-nah) is a feminine Tatar, Italian, Polish, Galician, Kyrgyz ("girl who brings happiness").In Estonia, France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Sweden March 1 is Albina’s Name day.
Pretty, but too close to Albino.

In Italian, the name Albina is commonly known to mean, "White Skinned".
Albina is also Croatian.
I love this name, but it's very close to Albania, and I find that funny because I have Albanian ancestry.
I don't like "Al" or "Bean" or "Beanie" for a girl's nickname. "Albie" is ok but because this name is just way too close to the spelling for "albino", I couldn't ever saddle a child with it.
Albina was an Etruscan goddess of the dawn and protector of ill-fated lovers.
Albina is also Czech and Slovak form.
Also a feminine name in Slovenia. [noted -ed]
Albína´s pet forms: Al, Ally, Alby, Beena.

Albina means in Romanian "The Bee".
Albina is also a Russian name as well as Italian. It isn't extremely popular, especially with girl's born now, but it was a fairly common name for girl's born in the 20's-40's.
