Plural form of Cruz, taken from the titles of the Virgin Mary, La Virgen de las Cruces and Nuestra Señora de las Cruces, meaning "The Virgin of the Crosses" and "Our Lady of the Crosses" respectively.
She is the patroness of Daimiel in the central Spanish province of Ciudad Real.
