Meaning & History

Spanish form of Jerusalem.
In Spain, it can also be taken from the titles of the Virgin Mary, Nuestra Señora de Jerusalén and La Virgen de Jerusalén, meaning "Our Lady of Jerusalem" and "The Virgin of Jerusalem" respectively. She is the patroness of Artajona in Navarra, hence the name's high concentration there.
