I see Dallas purely as a boy's name though it falls into the catagory of location names and I'm not a big fan of those usually. Dallas brings those stupid Dallas Cowboys to mind.
(Not too much offense to Cowboys fans but as a Eagles fan, they are pretty much enemy #1 around here.)

I know this cute kid named Dallas, and I like him al lright, and it has positive connotations for me.
But I do think immediately of the city, and I am personally not a huge fan of city names. As far as they go, though, Dallas is nice.

The name Dallas reminds me of the hockey team the Dallas Stars, but thats probably just me because I'm quite a hockey fan. =D

Makes me think of my favorite character from SE Hinton's The Outsiders. That connection is unshakable for me and even though I love the name I couldn't use it because that character is a juvenile delinquent who I would hate in real life.

Dallas reminds me of Paris or London as names, I'm not really fond of city / country names. I do like Cairo though :) (what about Cairo James?)

Reminds me of J.R., Sue Ellen, Miss Ellie and Ewing Oil. NMS.
