Message: "Canyon?" - Behind the Name

A baby was baptised at my church last week. His name was Canyon Michael. I usually hate word names, but Canyon is kinda cool, IMO.
What do you think of it? I wouldn't name a child that, of course, but...

It's a geographical feature, not a name imo.

It's kind of cool, but at the same time really different. I think once I got used to it I would really like it.
