I love the name, but only for a girl. To me, it sounds to soft and feminine for a boy, sorry. I also prefer the spelling Shae.

I like this name for a girl but spelt Shae or Shaye, it seems to feminine for a boy, but maybe thats because I have a niece named Shayenne who goes by Shay.

I don't mind Shea. The only drawback I can see is that it seems to be used as often for females as it is for males. I see it as completely male, however.

I like it. I'm not sure why. I guess I like the sound. I think it'd be neat on a boy, I prefer it as such. You get my vote of apporval.

Two different namesShia LaBeouf (the only person I've ever heard of with the name) pronounces his name SHY-ah. Shea is pronounced SHAY.

thought it was SHAY-ah.if it was SHAY-ah then i would prefer SHY-ah. also, shea seems like a girls name to me. i have a friend shay (diff spelling, same sound).

I love Shea and it has always bothered me when I saw it used on a girl. I think I like it because its a short name without being harsh or wounding trendy.

I absolutely love it on a girl. I hate the spelling Shay, though. It's cute on a boy, though I prefer it on a girl. Kind of like the name Micah.

I love the name Shea! I think it has a really cool sound to it, but I prefer the spelling Shaye to avoid any confusion about whether it's pronounced Shay or Shee. I like it for either gender.

I love it for a boy, but I detest it for a girl. Many people that like trendy names may see it as "girly" but I think a lot of people here much prefer it for a boy. :)

I've only ever heard this name used for a girl once. A girl I went to school with was named Shannon and some people called her Shay. I've heard it on a boy many times though and I like it a lot. Shay might be a more masculine spelling though. Shea Hillenbrand (sp?) is a famous baseball player.

Was just going to bring up Shea HillenbrandI like it on a boy more than a girl, but I think it should be a mn or nn.

I hate it. It sounds like a puff of air to me. I think it sounds very feminine (and I like more feminine sounding names for boys) and kind of insignificant. I also hate it for a girl.

I don't like it because it seems so girly.-Tara

I don't like the spelling; I tend to stay away from boy names ending with A. I like Shay though.
