There was a New Zealander-Chinese girl in the news here lately named Qian Xun, pronounced shahn shoon (approximately). If Xun is 'shoon' I would instinctively pronounce Xian 'shahn' and Xan 'shan'. But that's just extrapolation, I could be very wrong.
