The database is correct. It's a fairly straightforward
German pronunciation. I know in the United States a number of families with the surname
Albrecht changed it to Albright generations ago to steer clear of anti-German sentiments, and that might also explain why they say
Albrecht with that pronunciation. Or just that it's drifted far enough away from being a name of
German speakers that its been gradually given a new regional pronunciation.
I've only heard it AHL-brekht myself.
