I like Katherine nicknamed Kitty but I prefer Catherine, Catharine, or another C spelling so much more that I'd actually go with Rose between the two. I'd take Katherine over a lot of names, though, and would have no complaint at all if it was someone's choice.

I dislike Cat and Kat as nicknames for Katherine. Kitty and Kit I enjoy, I think they both have that retro feel you're talking about.
