[Opinions] Michaela
I know this name was trendy for a while, but it seems to have fallen out of favor (currently #343). I loved it before it became so popular, because my father's name is Michael and I thought if I ever had a daughter, it would be a great way to honor him. My question is, do you think naming a child Michaela still sounds annoyingly trendy? Do you personally like the name, or do you not see the appeal? Any middle name suggestions? Thanks, guys.

Michaela is *tons and tons* more tolerablethan all the BS misspellings -- deliberate and otherwise -- out there. I cannot abide Makayla! Barf! Or any of the other "variations," for that matter. However, even though I much prefer Michaela, for sound alone I'm not in love with it by any means. Having said that, I can still recommend a mn; my own preferences lead me to suggest something that starts with hard C or K, and avoid anything that ends in A.Michaela Caprice

The Michaela spelling may have gone out of fashion a bit, but I think that if you add up all of the different spellings, it's still very trendy.I don't mind Michaela, except that I hear mih-CHAY-eh-luh in my head because my brain is weird, and that interferes with the actual mih-KAY-luh pronunciation.People are going to slap me for this, but I actually prefer Mikayla these days. *ducks*

I don't mind Michaela at all. I have nothing against the way it sounds. I would have nothing against it at all if people wouldn't spell it Mikayla, Mykayla, Mykaela, etc. That's what's annoying. If it weren't for such more common spellings, I'd like Michaela a lot. So to answer your question, I don't think Michaela is trendy. I do think Mikayla et al. are trendy.Michaela Agnes

I wish I liked it. It's not a bad name. I just hate how it sounds. I like the Spanish pronunciation of meek-eye-AE-la.What it will sound like if you have a daughter named Michaela in a few years is that for the rest of her life, people will think she's about ten years older than she is. She will have an old lady name before she's an old lady. There's also Michelle to think about but I guess you have thought about that.

do you think naming a child Michaela still sounds annoyingly trendy? I don't know what trendy is, so no I cannopt answer your question. IS Michaela popular? Yes, but not as much as other names.Do you personally like the name, or do you not see the appeal? I used to like it when I was 10, I don't find the appeal of it at al lanymore. plain old Michael is way better.Any middle name suggestions? My old combo was Mikayla Anne (this way), Michaela Anne

Its funny you mentioned Michaela Anne, because Ann is my mother's name.I personally like the name, but I would be hesitant to name a daughter something that sounds super-trendy, just because its not my style. I guess I just wanted different opinions of the name, that's all.

It still seems trendy to me, simply because though the spelling Michaela may not be popular around here, the multitude of alternative spellings (McKayla, Mikayla, Makayla, etc.) inundate the BAs. I don't believe I've gone a week without seeing a variation of Michaela in the BA section of one of the newspapers that I get. Also, since the 'Mc/Mac' seems so trendy, Michaela is just untouchable for me in the meantime.I really, really wish it weren't so trendy because I do think that I like it.Combo suggestions:Michaela Jane

I agree with what you've written here. I love the name, and I think its very pretty, but it bothers me that its been lumped in with the "Mc" and "-ayla" names.Of the combos you mentioned, I like Michaela Josephine, Michaela Bridget, and Michaela Gretchen. Thanks!

In my opinin it looks really weird like your tring to make a boy name a girls name. I think if you want to honor your dad name a son if you have one Michael lol. I don't like the sounding of it not because i tihnk its trendy becaus ei just don't like it.

I don't know why it would look weird. It's the feminine version of Michael, and -a is a very common way to feminize a masculine name. Such as Alberta, Philippa, Roberta, Louisa, Alexandra, etc.

Yeah i know, I find it looks weird for all of those names except Alexandra. But thats just my opinion.
