What are your opinions of the name Mildred?
I like it because it reminds me of a dear friend.
But when I say I like it to others, their faces turn sour. :)So, please let me know what you think. Thanks!

I'm sorry, but I think its horrible.Mildred/Millie is incredibly dated and plain.

dittoAlthough I don't mind Millie, Mildred is utterly awful, it sounds moldy, nasty, damp and cold.

I love it!I was watching M*A*S*H about a month ago and Colonel Potter was talking about his wife (Mildred) and all of a sudden it struck me as a particularly sweet and whimsical name.If it reminds you of a friend, then go for it! It has (IMO) one of the best name meanings ever.Because I really cannot abide the nickname Millie/ Milly, I prefer it as a middle name. My combo for the moment is Claudia Mildred.

I think it's very pretty. I don't like Millie, though.

Oh I love the name Mildred. It's one of my favorites. I think it's lovely and it comes with the cute nickname Millie.Well, I think most people think of an ugly old lady when they hear the name so the world might not be ready for a little girl named Mildred just yet. I would just use it if I liked it (which I do). When people meet your daughter and see the name on a cute little girl they will change their opinion.

No offense, but I think it's a name for grandmas.

I really like this name again. I used to when I was a child, but then I went off of it. Now I can really imagine a little Mildred running around :):0)

I love this name. I'm not sure if I would use it as a first name, because it sounds very old-fashioned, too old-fashioned sometimes. But I would definitely use it as a middle name. It's among my top 10 names.

It's forever imprinted in my mind as a witch name after the worst witch books and tv series which me and my sister liked when we were young, but even trying to ignore that there's something about the sound that I just don't like, I think it's the -dred ending reminding me of dread. I like Mildrith better, another form of it.

I can't help but think of an older woman that is rather hefty.
It's just not a pretty name to me.
