[Opinions] Lana
Okay, I've been thinking about this name for a while and now that someone asked about the (I moan) problem of Naomi (not really a problem because it's not so obvious), I was reminded of Lana.I used to like it pronounced LAH-na and it made me think of old Hollywood and of Lana Turner. Do you say it LAH-na or LAY-na ?I was pretty quick to notice what it read backwards, though. I also instantly remembered a game I played quite often with friends in elementary school. As soon as we knew how to read we would figure out how to read our names backwards. We played games and called each other by the backwards name all day. We did that over and over again and thought it was a lot of fun. Now imagine little kids screaming "Anal, Anal, come here" at your daughter. I don't know but from then on I couldn't like the name anymore at all even though I did before. I just would never ever use it because of that. I thought about spelling it Lahna and Lanah but it didn't work, it destroyed the name completely. I also wouldn't want to use longer forms like Svetlana because she'd still be Lana anyway. It's not and issue anymore because I don't really like it anymore and have other favorites now. It's just that I hear it sometimes on TV and then I think hmmmm actually it sounds pretty that anal thing is such a shame.Just curious if you'd still use it. Of course many names read unfortunate things backwards or have bad meanings but anal is just too bad in my opinion.

Well my friends name is Trulana, TRU-lah-na and we call her lana (Lah-na) and i always thought it was quite pretty :) so i think Lana is a beautiful name :) and like LAH-na pronoucation. and i would think most kids would think AH-nal when they saw it backwards anyway. :) lol .

I think the backwards thing is a very small reason to dislike a name. Sure, kids do those kinds of things, but they grow out of it. Lana is a very pretty, old Hollywood name, and it's not as trendy as Ava. I like it.

I went to...I went to high school with a girl named Lona. I like the Lana spelling better, but both are serviceable.

No, kids stop reading backwardsAnd I think Lana is a nice name. And it sure reminds me of Lana Lang, lol.
LAH-nah, due to my tendencies.
Naomi or Lana is OK, people rarely use those names today.

I like this name. It also reminds me of Smallville.
