[Facts] Gaxiola
My husband, his father and grandfather all share Gaxiola as a middle name. Grandfather was named for his mayan uncle, I believe. We've always pronounced it gah HEE oh la, but wonder if the x was originally pronounced sh in nahuatl? We've had no luck finding the origin, meaning or original pronunciation of the name.

I have no particular qualification in Mayan languages, but the sites I've checked all attribute an original SH sound to the X. Some also note that the customary stressed syllable is the second to last.
This would yield something like "gah shee OL a", but nothing is to say the stress isn't exactly where your husband and his ancestors have always placed it.

Da.
