This was just mentioned in a celeb BA.WDYTOI?
I know there was a name I wanted to bring up, but I can't think what it was now.

LOLOLOLOL!SF, this comment confused me badly all night long! Till this morning, that is, when I read the other celeb baby post, about Viggo Moriah Hansen. Now I get it! The best guess I had last night was, I thought you were making a very tangential comment about naming a baby for the mines of Moria, a sideways LOTR reference to Viggo being Aragorn...?I'm so relieved to make sense of this! Just ignore me, I'm a dork. :p

From when I first head it on Viggo Mortensen, I always thought it was a nickname for something longer, therefore it seems kind of nicknamey to me. I don't mind it, I guess, but I don't like it much either. The sound isn't very pleasant.

It sounds like a celeb baby type name... wouldn't inflict it on a normal child.

I love Viggo, it's really handsome and it's actually one of my favorite boy's names. It would be on my list of one's I might use except that I worry people might associate it too much with Viggo Mortensen.

It's quite snappy and different, yet still simple. I like it. Yes it has a famous bearer, but that's not really an issue for me. Very nice.

I think it's pretty cool!

Viggo is a mad sexy nameMainly due to Viggo Mortensen. Therefore, I'm rather fond of the name Viggo =P.

lol, agreed

Ditto!Mad sexy is a great way to put it! So is pure testosterone. Mr. Mortensen's blue eyes go a long way toward recommending it, as far as I'm concerned. But I also love the similar-sounding, similarly testosterone-laden Valko. Maybe if the Mortensen connection is too much you could consider him?Or maybe Viggo and Valko could be twin brothers? =D

Oooh, Valko is really awesome. And it has a very cool meaning, as well. Thanks for suggesting it to the OP. I've never seen it before and probably never would have discovered it otherwise. =D Plus, ditto your entire post. Viggo is pure testosterone, but it is such a great name.

Thank youI hope we can put yesterday behind us. There was no personal ill will intended.

Absolutely.I know that it's not a personal I-hate-you thing; I can definitely understand how hearing people repeat the same things over and over and over and over would get incredibly annoying. Ditto hearing the same names over and over and over. That being said, congrats for picking Gideon for your boy. That's one I hope to use someday. I'm also trying to expand the boundaries of my naming style... my bizarre Israeli name choices are about as weird as it gets (Smadar, Merav, Einat, Inbal, etc.). For future posts, I hope to hear some opinions from you, Tippins, etc. :-)

Pure testosterone.Seriously, if you wanted a masculine name, you've hit the jackpot with Viggo. I wouldn't use the name, but I really like it. It's unique without being unmanageable. Only downside is that almost no one has heard of it outside of Viggo Mortensen, and I for one really dislike the naming-after-celebrities thing (Angelina, Miley, Charlize, Kiefer, etc.)

Like it, but a little too popularI don't think of VIggo Mortensen but that could, of course, be because Viggo is a popular name here (ranked 35 in 2007).
