Help[Opinions] Beulah
I asked for simple, biblical names and Beulah was a suggestion. What do you think? I never really noticed it before and didn't know it was biblical. Now it doesn't look dated to me anymore but reminds me of Hannah and Sarah.
What do you think? Will it make a comeback? Could you picture it on a baby?

I find those examples excessively doddery and crypt-keeperish (although it's a general dislike of some of the sounds too)
I have a fascination with Beulah but I'm not altogether fond of the sound either. It isn't a name I would ever entertain. The name is unheard of here so there are no strong or even mild associations.

There are lots of "chic" ugly names I'd rather avoid :)
I think I'd walk off a cliff before using Adelaide but differing opinions make the board go around and it's nice to be the odd one out sometimes. That said, I couldn't really take Beulah either. Fascination is not the same as appreciation.

In the fourth grade, we found out a classmate's middle name was Beulah, and we teased her for it. We shouldn't have done that, but it's still an ugly, ugly name.

You know, when I was a kid Beulah was often mentioned as the quintessential ugly name. It was one of those names reserved in the exclusive club, along with Adolph and Bertha, of "names that will forever be excluded from use on an actual person and doomed to obscurity."
But now that I have met a toddler named Gladys, I say you can't write any name off.
And while I would never use it, I can even see how some people might begin to appreciate or even like it.

It's got an old-school charm to it but I don't think it's making a comeback anytime soon. It's too hillbilyish for that.

It's kinda cool, but I don't think it's useable, it's too dated. I definitely can't picture it on baby, only on a 1920s flapper drinking the nigths away with Dorothy Parker.

I can't bring myself to like it, and I don't think it will come back. It's the "Beu" sound. Beeewwwwww. Very unappealing to me and I'm sure to a lot of people. It looks pretty though.

I cannot understand how anyone can find it attractive. It sounds kind of like a sheep's bleet...or some vomitting. You know....BYOO-LAHH...gross.

I love Beulah!
I think it's really pretty, and, yes, I could picture it on a baby. I think it has the same feel as Hannah and Sarah, both of which are very popular, so I think it may well make a comeback - it doesn't seem dated to me, either.
