I've heard this name as the upperclass girl in a couple of novels that take place in Britain. I mix it up a lot with Venetia. It's a pretty name, very Victorian sounding to me, and not used nearly as often as it should be.

I reminds me of veins but I like it anyway. All Verenas I know are really unpleasant, though, so I'm not sure I could use it.

It's kind of pretty and not overused. I knew an exchange student named Verena when I was in gr. 12.
