[Opinions] Aisling
I really love the look of this name.
Do you know how it's pronounced correctly? I've heard Ashlyn, ASH-leen and ASH-leeng. Do you happen to know which one is correct?
What do you think of Aisling? Do you prefer Aislinn? Would Aislinn be pronounced differently? What about Ashlyn or Ashlynn? Ashleen? Asha? Do you pronounce Asha ASH-a, AH-sha or like Asia?
Do you think they sound dated, because they're similar to Ashley?
Do you know anyone with any of these names?
Oh and just wondering...how many Ashleys do you know and how do they spell it?

it's an irish name pronounced ashling
I'm a writer and Aisling is a major character of mine.
It's pronounced ASH-ling. Aislinn / Aislin are pronounced ASH-lin.
You can also spell them all Ashling, Ashlin, Aslynn, Aislinn, etc.
I once met twins named Aislinn and Ashlynn. I was so very very sad for their idiot parents who thought Aislinn was pronounced AYZ-lin.
I think it's a refreshing sound. However, the poor child will probably be mistkatenly called Ashley by a load of people. :(
I know probably ten (maybe more) Ashleys and they all spell it Ashley except for one Ashlee. I hate to say only one is a boy.

I know two Ashleys - both spelt this way. One man and one woman - both in their early forties.
Aisling is so common here(Ireland) - I can't begin to count how many I know. I have hear it used from new babies to women in their thirties and forties. It never really went out of fashion - I guess because it has a nice meaning.
Both Ash-ling and Ais-leen are acceptable pronunciations.
I know an Ashlynn and an Aislinn.

I learned it ASH-lin, but I'm not Irish so it's secondhand.
If you want to use it, use it as Aisling. There might be more pronunciation issues, but it is sooo much prettier this way than Ashlyn. Of the others, Aislinn is the best alternative. If you don't stray into Ashlyn-land I think you are safe from Ashley associations.

I used to live in Northern Ireland and knew several Aislings, they all pronounced it ASH-leen :)
I like Aisling and I love the meaning, I prefer it to Aislinn but I think they would both be pronounced the same.
Ashlyn, Ashlynn, Ashleen etc, I dislike them all, and I do think they seem dated because of their similarity to Ashley. Asha is ok though, I would pronounce it ASH-a.
I know three Ashleys and they are all male, as it's a boys name where I live. They all spell it Ashley.
