Message: "Portia and Porsche"

While I love the name Portia, seeing Porsche on a human being makes me sick. The database lists both names with the same pronunciation PAWR-shə but they are not related.
So if I introduced to you my daughter PAWR-shə, whould you have to think about the car or would you assume her name to be Portia right away? Do you even pronounce those names the same?

I would assume her name was Portia but I still think the name sounds kind of tacky due to Porsche.

I pronounce Portia as PAWR-shah and Porsche (the car) as either PAWR-sh (English) or POR-sheh (Croatian).

I do pronounce them the same, but hearing it as a name I would assume it was Portia. But then I'm not sure why this is, as I've known two girls with this name, and one spells it Porche, and one spells it Porsha. And actually, the second one is really LaPorsha, but she is always called just Porsha.

I pronounce Porsche as PAWR-shə (mainly due to 8 years of German lessons), but where I live it's most commonly said as 'Porsch' so that's what I'm used to hearing.
So if someone introduced me to their daughter PAWR-shə I would immediately assume (and hope!) that her name is Portia.

I would assume the Latin Portia. But, if I personally knew a Porsche, I'd jump to that first. I pronounce the car's name in one syllable, porsh.

My mum fostered a kid called Porsha. I did think of the car but after I got over that I started to really like it. It's actaully a really nice name.

I pronounce Porsche PAWR-shə, but it's different for Portia, I pronounce it Pohr-tee-ah. It's logical that you're American, you're going to pronounce Portia exactly like Porsche. I agree with you when it comes to a human being named Porsche, it's really weird.
