There's also the Irish name Mael (really a kind of name prefix, meaning 'servant of' - e.g. Malcolm < Mael Colm, 'follower/servant of Columba). I think this is usually pronounced just like the vocabulary item 'mile'.

You can sort of think of it as rhyming with noël, except, of course, with an 'a' and not an 'o'. Even better if you've ever heard someone say it in French.
