[Opinions] Pronunciation of Aislinn
I've recently fallen head over heels for the name Aislinn. I thik it's gorgeous, and has a great meaning! However, I intinctively pronounce it "ayz-lin" or "ace-linn" as I do know of an Aislinn though an aquaintance and that is how she pronounces it! However, I know that this is not the true pronounciation. Rather,it is "ash-ling." However, I am not quite as keen on this pronuncation. Should I merely pronounce the name the way I love it, or stick to the traditional pronuncation? What would you do?

change the spellingAyslin or Aislyn are nice. as a freak for Irish names, I always have a fear of the next name that will be "Caitlinized" or use an English pronunciation of an Irish name. Aislinn seems to be the next in line, although I found these alternate forms in the SSA list from last year: Aislinn, Aislynn, Aislyn, Aislin, Acelynn, Acelyn, Aslynn, Aslyn, Aizlyn, Aizlynn, Azelyn, Acelin, Aslin, Iselin, Aisleen, IcelynnObviously not all of these are pronounced ACE-linn, but you can see what some other people are doing!

Well, spell it Ayzlin! Perhaps you'll become famous and start a fad :) I love Ainsley too because it's got the "ayz" sound.

Depends on where you live. If you live in the US, I don't think she would be called by the original pronunciation that often. If you live in Ireland, it might be different.

Maybe you could spell it in a way that distances it from the Irish pronuncation. Ayslin would be pretty. I prefer the "AYS-lin" pronunciation myself as I'm not a fan of Ash-names.
