[Facts] Breslyn
A friend of mine just had her second child and named her Breslyn. I had never heard it before, she said she was in a restaurant and heard a mother call her daughter that. Does anyone know anything about it, or is it one of those made up names, or perhaps a surname?? Thanks.SJ

Looks much like the surname I found in my family tree recent, Breslin. I guess it could be a variant.

At Last, I've found you. How are you, friend? I haven't spoken with you in so long. How is that darling girl of yours? I still have that picture you sent me of her. How has Nan been? Mike C. said he was going to e mail you and her for me, but I hadn't heard anything. I hope to hear from you soon. I want to know what's been going on!TB

I would tend to agree with Seda*. The first thing I thought when I saw Breslyn was it reminded me a lot of the surname Breslin. If I was unfamiliar with the name and heard it used on a girl I would probably assume it to be spelled Breslyn or Breslynn. I don't know much about the surname other than it's Irish and came from O'Brislain.

Could it possibly come from the last name Breslin? I know of a man with this middle name but it comes from a surname.
This is all the information I could find on it.Breslin-Irish Surname

Not sure about the Bres, but 'lyn' in a name usually refers to water of some kind. However, I have also heard it added arbitrarily to made up names. I'd like to know more to, does anybody know? Is it maybe Welsh?
