[Opinions] Cosette?
So... Cosette? What do we think? Combos? What about nicknames? I was thinking Cozy might be cute... but sort of obnoxious at the same time...

I like the name, and I like Les Mis. I think it would be a good idea... I just didn't actually like the character that much. Now, I haven't read the book (I know, I need to...) but in the play she doesn't actually DO much, and if I were going to name a child after a character I'd want the character to be a good role model. Now, I know the name isn't necessarily after the character, but they seem very intertwined to me.
Still, I'd be very happy is I met a little Cosette. Cosi, Cosy, Cos, Sette, Setta, Set? Mns... hmm...Cosette Linnea
Cosette Elise
Cosette Wilhelmina

I used to have a cat named Cosette but I think it works for humans too. ;-) Actually, we called her Cozy a lot because she was so tiny when we got her.I've no time for combos right now (although I think French names would suit it beautifully) but wanted to say that I'd be thrilled to see someone named Cosette.ETA that when we'd take Cosette to the vet we'd sometimes encounter people who couldn't spell it (Cozet) or who had never heard of it. Still, I think it would be an easy problem to deal with. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

My Les Mis senses are tingling...I say YES! Cosette Ursula is what I've come up with, but you'd have to be a huge Les Mis dork to love it. Cozy is freakin' adorable.

Haha, is Ursula a reference to what Marius assumes her name is?

I like the idea of Cosette because of its literary and theatrical ties, but Cozy I think is on par with something like Princess or Precious or Lamb - ok as a family name, but not for everyday use. It's way too cutesy. I like the zappier, stronger Zettie or Zette.I'd pair Cosette with something more serious and mature, likeCosette Miriam
Cosette Lucille
Cosette Agatha, Cosette Agnes (though they sound nicer as Agatha Cosette and Agnes Cosette imo)
Cosette Martha
Cosette Blanche
Cosette Frederica
Cosette Barbara
Cosette Henrietta
Cosette Marjorie
Cosette Rebecca
Rose Cosette

I knew a REALLY DUMB GIRL named Cozette. Like, REALLY dumb. I do think her friends called her Cozy, but I bet they were also dumb.I used to think it was kind of cute before her, but now I think it's comically ditzy. The problem with Cosette is that, aside from sounding cute, it's really got nothing behind it. It was even a nickname in Les Mis, and the comments don't make it sound like it was a particularly strong nickname. It sounds like "little thing" to me, as Cosa in Spanish is "thing" and -ette is a diminutive. I wouldn't want to be named it. But I think it would be kind of sweet as a middle name, and since it's an iamb it could go easily with a lot of stuff.

It means "little thing" in French, too (well, almost; that's "chosette"). I've never met anyone named Cosette or Cozette or any other spelling of it, but apart from that, I completely agree with you about the name.

Yes, yes, yes!!! I've loved Cosette for so long! Ever since Les Mis... But any combo I've ever thought of has had Cosette as a middle name. I agree about Cozy being a bit obnoxious, though it'd be pretty cute for a small child :) If you were to use Cosette as a first name, I'd have the middle name begin with a vowel. The combo at the top of my mind right now is Cosette Amelia.

I knew a girl named Cosette in France. I love that name and it so suited her.
