I love Scottish history. So the image of Flora McDonald smuggling Bonnie Prince Charlie out of the country disguised as a woman is too delicious to pass up. Because of it, I've always loved the name Flora.

Flora, for meThere is already a Florence in my family, and I enjoy Flora's slightly more streamlined charms.

FlorenceI like Flora, but I would actually use Florence. Florence is fresher in my mind, whereas Flora is something all the hip kids would use.

I keep waiting for Flora to explode among the hipsters. I don't understand what the hold up is.

Florence.Unfortunately, Flora is a type of margarine where I live, so I would never use it. Otherwise, I think Flora is a gorgeous name!If it was possble, I would choose Florence and use Flora as a nickname. Florrie is also a cute nickname, it's my second cousin's name.

Definitely Flora

FloraA million times over. Flora sounds young and hip in a retro way, like Ava and Ella. Florence still sounds terribly old to me. It's time hasn't yet returned.

I slightly prefer Flora, although Florence is nice too. I never knew that Flora was a brand of margarine, though.

Definitely FlorenceIt seems more complete to me. Also Flora is a prominent brand of butter/margarine her in New Zealand so there is huge teasing potential there. You could definitely do Florence nn Flora too

Florence. Flora just makes me think flora and fauna. Or Dora. Yup, definitely Florence.

Flora is definitely retro but it feels fresher to me than Florence which is also retro BUT makes me think of a warm, loving grandma who smells like sugar cookies. ;-)

I'd use Flora as a first name, but Florence as a middle name.

FloraFlora has a Roman goddess going for it as well as the flowery/plantyness. Florence seems too frilly for me and possibly too old-ladyish, and whenever I hear Florence I can't help but think about how Firenze is so much cooler :P

FlorenceThere is nothing terribly wrong with Flora, even if it's a brand of margarine, but Florence just appeals to me more.

Tough but probably Florence.

Flora as first name. Florence as a middle.

I like both, but I prefer Flora because I like the sound of it better than that of Florence. Florence is lovely in a dignified, serious kind of way, and Flora has more of a free-spirited vibe. Both are beautiful in their own right.

I love both, but prefer Florence a bit more. Florrie is an adorable nickname, and a Florence can go by Flora too.

I love both Flora and Florence! My vote goes to Florence if it's to be used in an English-speaking country.

Florence. Flora makes me think of the margerine.
