[Opinions] Re: Schuyler, Skyler, Skylar
in reply to a message by Lily
1. Which spelling is your favorite?
Schuyler, on a boy. Love it on a boy. Seems less trendy and cutsey than Skylar/Skyler.2. Which spelling looks girly and which one masculine?
I'd spell it Skyler or Skylar on a girl, Schuyler on a boy 3. Do you think Schuyler would cause pronunciation troubles?
I want to say no, but I do think there'd be some. But you can get prn. issues or variations with plenty of common and unusual names. For me, it's not a reason to avoid a name.4. If I wanted to use Sky as a nickname, do you think Skyler and Skylar would be better than Schuyler?
I'd use Skylar/Skyler for Sky. If I used Schuyler, I'd spell it Schuy. After all, it's prn. the same way. I think you could get away with the Sky spelling though.5. How many do you know? Do any go by Sky?
None. I know of a couple, one goes by Sky the other doesn't/ i also know a Sky and a Skye.6. Do you think it will get more common?
I'm not sure how common it is now, but it fits in with a lot of the popular names so I can see it happening.
