[Opinions] Selene
WDYTP this pronounced seh-LEE-nee- the Greek way? I was at the beach today and tonight looking at the moon reminded me of her.

I adore it! I only pronounce Selene seh-LEE-nee. People might have some trouble with that and if it was used in real life there would be a bit of correcting, but what's the harm in people learning something new? It's a conversation starter if anything. If I want seh-LEEN I go with Celine.

I like it, but I think enforcing the seh-LEE-nee pronunciation with every new person we meet would make me (and probably my daughter) miserable. I have the same issue with Irene.I think I'd reserve Selene as a middle name. Luna, Diana, Artemis, Chandra, and Hala all evoke the moon and are easier to pronounce.

I think it's lovely. I'd probably spell it Seleni, though, to avoid confusion. I kind of like the way that looks, too-- it's like Eleni with an s.

That moon last night was quite incredible, was it not?The Greek pronunciation is cute, but a think I prefer the English pronunciation. Although that may be just because I'm not used to hearing it said like that.

It's nice but I prefer the two syllable pronunciation.

I think Selene is very pretty but I imagine it would be pronounced Seh-leen by most people.

That's a tough one. I think I'll say seh-LEE-nee for middle names and seh-LEEN for first because I am in the US and it will always be said as seh-LEEN. easier to use as a mn instead of always correct

What do I TP? Houses. :P Okay, okay, I know that's supposed to be an O... now to not be a smart aleck and answer the actual question:I like it, but prefer it with two syllables, like seh-LEEN. seh-LEE-nee is more likable because of its Greekness, but also more unlikable IMO because of all the "ee" sounds. I have a character named Selene (a witch) and I've been saying it seh-LEEN, but I'll have to try her out with the other prn, and see if it fits at all. Hmm...
