I've never liked Samantha. I'm not sure why, since I like Sam well enough. Something about Samantha is too slippery and lispy maybe. I'm always surprised that Samantha is still so popular. I feel like I never meet one who's under age 20.
I don't consciously remember Samantha Smith at all, but I think she must have made an impression on me. I have some sort of mental block about this early-80s movie, "Savannah Smiles," where I'm constantly flubbing the title into Samantha Smith, Samantha Smiles, or Samantha Smith Smiles. I guess now I know why. Weird.
