[Opinions] Diego?
I know I've asked about Diego before. It's been off my list for a while, but I saw it posted on another site, and I do really like it. Is it to foreign though? Which sibset fo you prefer?Diego & Liliana
Diego & EmiliaThanks. :)

Diego complements either name really well. I do prefer Liliana to Emilia, however, I can't say which sibset is better because either is complementary.

I have a student named Diego. He's Mexican American and lives in an area that's mostly white, but there are several Hispanic immigrant families too. I don't see any reason to be teased because of this name. It's hard to see it as being too foreign when there's a well known city here with that name (San Diego). I'd assume that a Diego is Hispanic, though. If you're Hispanic, people probably would say 'family name' before 'ugh, foreign name'. Diego goes well with both Liliana and Emilia. All three sound like a good sibset too.

Love it, both on it's own and with your kids names. Two thumbs up.I don't think it's too foreign at all. I want to school with kids with a whole range of ethnical diverse names from Irish to Bosnian to Indian to Maori, and everyone coped just fine :) This was in Aus.Diego & Emilia, for sure. Love Emilia, sososo sick of Lily names. And FWIW, Diego is way way cooler than his cousin Dora. I've been trying to gt the girls hooked on Go Diego Go but they won't budge. He's so cute with all his animals. Dora annoys the crap out of me. And I still wouldn't advise anyone to not use Dora, so I think you're good!

I live in an area with lots of Hispanic people (mainly Cubans and Dominicans) and Diego is so common among them. I know at least five. It's okay, but it's too common for my tastes. Plus there's the annoying kids' show Go Diego Go!

I love Diego. You live in Australia, right? I work in a Before and After School Care and we have a Diego there and it is far far farrrrr from the most 'foreign' sounding name- I think you will find no one will even blink an eyelid at it. We live in such an ethnically diverse society and kids' names really do reflect that. I very much doubt that your Diego would ever be singled out for his name or have the most unusual name in his class.I like Diego and Liliana the best out of the two.

Lol. We don't watch it, so I'm not bothered by it.

I think the association with the show is very strong for many people. For that reason, I could never use it. I would assume the child would have to deal with some mild teasing. However, it is a cool name.

I've met one white Diego, but it suits him. He's a three year old kid.I like Diego and Emilia.

By white, do you mean white Hispanic? (A lot of Hispanics look like white people - more than one would think.)

No, I mean Caucasian. Both of his parents are white.

BARF.Cultural appropriation by white granola types is a horrible thing. Next thing you know, white people will be naming their kids African names such as Tsholofelo and Ekwueme.Makes me think of the short-lived cartoon "The Goode Family" where the white parents named their adopted son Ubuntu. Bwahahaha.

I think they just liked the name. I've only met them a couple of times, but I wouldn't say they're the granola types.

We are actually Hispanic, but live in an English speaking country. I love foreign names for boys, but I also don't want him to feel like the odd one out. :)

Oh, sorry. I was just confused by your comment about the name sounding too foreign. :)

Sorry, I don't think I worded it right. :)The only reason I said that, is becuase I live in a mainly white area, I don't want him to be teased. :)

I don't think he'd be teased. I think it's a cool name.

Diego is cool. It's not "too foreign" at all. I especially dig the "-go" ending. :-)Diego and Emilia are terrific as siblings. I'm tired of Lily names, as nice as Liliana is.
