[Opinions] Pronunciation of Perdita?
And also, what do you think of the name overall? I have always pronounced it per-DEE-tah.

Goodness! I've always said, and heard, PER di ta. Same rhythm as Melanie. It's pretty, but I associate it firmly with rehomed pets.

That's how I pronounce it too. Unfortunately, it's too tied to 101 Dalmations for me to ever consider using it, but objectively I do think it's pretty.

Me too. So pretty, with such history and meaning. Love it.

I say it the same way you do.
I don't like it much.

Reminds me of 101 Dalmations. nms I'd read it as /per DI tah/, like in Spanish.

per-DEE-ta. I don't like it at all, it makes me think of spoiled annoying ugly little rat dogs. Not sure why, isn't there a Disney movie with one of those named Perdita?

The mother of the 101 Dalmatians! I think it's charming because of that, though.

I'd pronounce the same as you. I think it would make a nice middle name, but it's a little stuffy for a first name...

Perdita is pronounced PUR-di-tə. I don't really like it or dislike it. :)
