Aaron is a long time favorite. I was just wondering:
1) Do you think it's dated? Or boring?
2) How many do you know? Too popular to use?
3) Do you pronounce Aaron and Erin the same? Where are you from (country, region)?

It is not dated or boring. I have known or heard of about ten Aaron's in my life, not too popular in my opinion. I would be refreshing to hear of a new baby Aaron I think, and the double A seems cool to me for some reason.
I pronounce Aaron and Erin almost the same, Aaron is Air-uhn and Erin is Air-in but if I say them normally its hard to tell which I'm saying. I am from Northwestern coast of the US.

You already know I share the Aaron love. :)
1) I wouldn't call Aaron dated. It might not have been as consistant in its popularity as names like James and John, but it has been well used for a long time. It's hard to date a name that has never dropped out of the top 300. Since it's one of my favorites, I obviously don't find it boring, either. Aaron is deep, strong, and so handsome.
2) I knew a couple growing up, and I know one now who's in his late 20s. I checked my son's yearbook from last year, and there wasn't a single Aaron out of 600+ kids despite ranking in the 40-60 range when all of them were born. Even if I cared about popularity, I'd feel comfortable using Aaron.
3) I do. I've lived most of my life in Texas.

Aaron is AH-ron (german r) and Erin would be AIR-in or AIR-een, but it is not often used in Germany, never heard of a person named Erin here. If I speak english a pronounce Erin and Aaron the same. I love Aaron in english and in german!

1) I don't think it is either dated or boring however for me it is a bit of a thuggish name - sorry.
2) The only one I have heard of was a character in a programme, not very popular here at all.
