[Opinions] Kirsten pronunciation?
Which pronunciation of Kirsten do you prefer saying/hearing and why? KEER-stin
or
KUR-stin I cannot myself decide...I think both are pretty and both work...so what do you think?

KEER-stin. I've known several who pronounced it like that. I dislike KUR-stin. Sounds like "cursed in"

KEER-stin. The only Kirstin I've known pronounced it this way, so it's what I'm used to. I think it's the more pleasant of the two, anyway. I don't like the KUR- pronunciation one bit. It sounds like curse and cur to me--not good.

I have a friend called Kirsten and we all pronounce it KER-stin, so neither of the ones you suggested. I think I prefer KEER-stin.

I've never heard it pronounced as KEER-stin so I would have to say KUR-sten like Kirsty is KUR-sty.

I instinctively say KUR-stin. KEER-sten would be Kiersten, IMO.

I say KUR-stin.I've never heard any other pronounciation, but both are quite nice. I like the nickname Kirsty (KUR-stee) though.

I prefer KUR-stin and the two Kirsten's I know in real life pronounce it that way. KEER-sten to me seems like it should be spelled a different way, like Kiersten or something in order to make the distinction.

Keer-stin, hands down. I think Kur-stin is ugly as homemade sin. Actually I'm no big fan of Keer-stin either but at least it doesn't have cur or curse in it.

KUR-stinI spell KEER-stin Kiersten. That's the only way I've seen it spelt.

I think I like KEER-stin better. I know a few Kirstens, and they always use that pronunciation. I think KUR-stin sounds too much like Thurston and therefore more masculine.

meant to go under the original postIn German it is pronounced KIHR-sten. Not KURR-sten, it's kind of like KEER-sten but shorter. Hard to explain. Anyway, my favorite is KEER-sten followed by KIHR-sten, then KUR-sten. I don't like KUR-sten much at all. I do however think that most people in the US would say KUR-sten because I know a Kirsten (KEER-sten) who says she always has to correct people.
