[Facts] Nilupa--Origin, meaning, and pronunciation?
Hello,I'm looking for any information on the name Nilupa. It's feminine, and possibly of Australian origin. I'm afraid that's all I know about it. Can somebody please provide the meaning, confirm/deny the origin, and the pronunciation?~WinterRose

Hi, I know a Nilupa who is a female and Australian and Sri Lankan. I'm not sure what it means exactly but i think it might be linked to the colour blue.

I've done a bit of googling and research on Nilupa. From what I can gather, it is used in Sri Lanka and it could have been used by the Sinhalese people. The gender of Nilupa from what I've found is masculine, not feminine.
Unfortunately, I couldn't be able to find the meaning of this name, however the pronunciation of this name is, most likely, nee-loo-pa.Overall, the info that I've got about Nilupa is different from yours.Hope that (sort of) helps.

Hmm okay. Somebody I know has a friend in Sri Lanka who's a girl and has the name Nilupa, which is why I assumed it was feminine. Thank you, you've been a very big help!

A quick search on Facebook showed people of both genders with a given name of Nilupa. If anything, I saw more females than males there.(There are so many people on Facebook nowadays, and mostly with their real names, that it's usually quite useful to search for names there to see whether they really exist and whether they are male or female.)
